Well. Where to begin. It had been just over 6 weeks since I was furloughed due to the global pandemic and the state of that business–which was the rental car industry. And with the support of my fantastic family and friends, I set off on the job search. I then applied for around 20 or so positions all over the Oklahoma City area and hoped I’d hear something back. I had no idea what was going to happen…I hadn’t had to look for employment for over 25 years, so it was a bit daunting.

Fast forward to 05/04/20… I’d had an interview via Zoom, then a 2nd phone interview, and a 3rd Zoom interview all in the span of 10 days.

And guess what? I got the job & I started 8 days later! I am a Sponsored Programs Administrator I in the Research Administration Office at OUHSC. I was so excited to start this journey and I couldn’t wait to share my news with all my family and friends.

On my first work anniversary my boss said something very kind to me: “…I’m so glad you were my first hire here”.

Wow! Makes me feel like I’m doing a pretty good job!
