Pre-Award Research Administrator I
Became an RA: 2020 - RecentI will be in the field of Research Administration (Pre-Award specifically) for two years as of this coming January 2024.
In my previous role post-grad, I was a grants writer and legislation manager at a small nonprofit in Rhode Island. This role was not satisfying me professionally and I craved to work at a larger institution with more research/grant access.
During the search for a new job, I was recruited by HR at my institution to join the Pre-Award team as an RA-I with 0 background knowledge or experience in the field. The sound of the position piqued my interest, I interviewed, accepted the role, and the rest was history! I had no idea what I was getting into, but the role of a RA has so much growth opportunity and the experience to work at a tier I Research Institution cannot be matched.
