Without realizing this (research administration) was what I was getting myself into, I accepted a grant-funded (soft money) position to be the second hire on a two-person team promoting college and career readiness across the state.

It wasn’t until several years later that someone explained to me that that position was actually research administration (grants management). It was the first (2yrs), followed by five years with a unit promoting educator professional development, literacy, and STEM initiatives and finally a move into sponsored research seven years ago.

I’ve put my Theatre/Speech/Communications and Educational Technology degrees to good use! LOL!
