A friend that worked in Univ of MN SPA convinced me to apply for a Grants Administrator Assistant position. I hesitated for a good while and kept telling her I didn’t have the right kind of experience for the position. I finally applied, got the job and have never left the field. I have been doing this for almost 24 years from academia to an international NGO. I am in the twilight years of my career now and working as a grants accountant, but have worked in pre- and post-award, and did cradle to grave administration in the NGO sector, got to travel the country and the world, and am grateful for the experience.
