I started at another institution as the business administrator in an Research Administration Office and worked in that department for 13-14 years. I picked up a lot of education (by sitting planning and sitting in on a lot of classes the department presented).

In a layoff from that institution, a Research Administrator (Pre-Award) position came open at another institution within the same University System. I was able to jump in and start pretty quickly due to the experiences I had at the old university. I’ve learned so much more and love learning (daily!) about the entire pre- and post-award cycle. It’s really a great job and career!
