Grant Accountant III

Became an RA: 2020 - Recent

My husband took a job with the University of Maine as a strength and conditioning coach in August 2015. We were not married at the time. We were previously living/working in Boston. I stayed behind, moving back to my parents house while searching for any accounting job I could get to be with him in Maine. I finally was offered a position with the University of Maine Office of Research Administration as a Grant Accountant in June 2016, and have been happily employed since! Since then we have had two children and also have a cat!

Assistant Director

Became an RA: The 2010's

I left my high teaching job due to employment insecurity in 2011, and took a position of financial manager for a large STEM grant at UMaine. I transitioned to Assistant Director of the Frontier Institute for Research in Sensor Technologies in 2015, and currently manage over 20 federally sponsored grants.

Grant and Contract Administrator II

Became an RA: 2020 - Recent

I started as an administrative assistant at the department level of a land-grant mission oriented university. I was the AA for the experiment station and part of the duties were administering the research projects under Hatch and McIntyre Stennis formula funds. After a decade of this I was hired for post award services in our central office, doing reporting, grant transfers, NCE, etc. Within two years I moved on to Subaward agreements and modifications and then a few years later to award review. This year I moved to federal contracts focused mostly on FAR/DFAR guided work. 😀
