About this program

The California Department of Housing and Community Development offers $53 million through the 2024 Local Housing Trust Fund NOFA Round 5 to increase affordable housing for households earning 80 percent or less of area median income. Grants support low-interest construction or permanent financing for predevelopment, acquisition, construction, rehabilitation, emergency and supportive housing, homebuyer or homeowner projects, and ADUs/JADUs. Eligible applicants are Local Housing Trust Funds established by cities, counties, Native American Tribes, or incorporated 501(c)(3) nonprofits, and awards require 50 percent matching funds from eligible dedicated public or private sources. Requests range from $500,000 or $750,000 for qualifying new funds to $1 million for existing funds, with a maximum of $5 million; applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.
