2027 Institutional Award for Undergraduate Student Training

About this program

The American Heart Association will provide up to $165,000 over three years to qualified research institutions for meaningful 10-week research experiences for two to five undergraduate students annually, including stipends, conference travel, and administrative support. Proposals are due September 9, 2026, by 3 p.m. CT through ProposalCentral. The program director must be a full-time assistant professor or above with a demonstrated mentoring record and must provide plans for institutional support, sponsor and student recruitment, internal selection, and trainee evaluation. Applicants must be AHA Professional Members, and participating students must be full-time juniors, seniors, or recent graduates of four-year institutions who meet the specified citizenship or visa requirements.
