2026 Jonathan Larson Grants

About this program

The American Theatre Wing offers the annual Jonathan Larson Grants, unrestricted awards supporting emerging musical theatre composers, lyricists, librettists, and collaborative writing teams in advancing their careers and creative work. Funds may be used without restrictions and are intended to support artists creating new, producible musical theatre works. Applicants must work professionally in the field, reside or work in the United States at least part time, be eligible to work in the U.S., and submit predominantly English-language musical theatre samples; students and prior Larson Grant recipients are ineligible. Individuals and regular collaborative teams may apply once per cycle with an artistic statement, creative CV, work-sample list, and representative audio, lyric, or libretto materials by September 4, 2026.
