About this program

The National Alopecia Areata Foundation (NAAF) offers multiple one-year, non-renewable research grants of up to $75,000 in direct costs for innovative basic, translational, clinical, epidemiological, technology, and health-services research aimed at understanding alopecia areata and advancing safe, effective treatments or a cure. Projects addressing disease mechanisms, comorbidities, treatment decision-making, patient-reported outcomes, psychosocial burden, triggers, or NIH All of Us data are encouraged; awards are expected to begin January 15, 2027, and do not allow indirect costs. Applicants worldwide must hold an MD, DO, PhD, or equivalent and be eligible through their host institution, with IRB, IACUC, or equivalent approval required when applicable. Applications must be submitted through ProposalCentral by September 17, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. PT.
