2026 SCS Award for Excellence in Teaching at the College Level

About this program

The Society for Classical Studies offers one to three 2026 Awards for Excellence in Teaching Classics at the College Level to recognize outstanding college and university educators in the United States and Canada. Each recipient receives a $500 cash prize and certificate, while their institution receives $200 for educational resources; awards will be presented at the January 2026 Annual Meeting. Eligible nominees must be SCS members with at least five years of teaching experience in a classical subject and may not be previous award recipients. Complete nomination packets, including a nomination letter, CV, teaching philosophy, course materials, evaluations, and student questionnaires, are due October 31, 2026.
