2027 American Surgical Association Surgical Leaders Fellowship Grant

About this program

The American Surgical Association, in partnership with AWS, SAAS, SBAS, and SUS, offers up to four $5,000 Surgical Leaders Fellowship Grants for academic surgeons preparing for leadership roles such as department chair, center director, CEO, or dean. The fellowship supports two one-week shadowing visits with surgical leaders at different academic institutions and includes complimentary ASA Annual Meeting registration. Applicants must be board-certified associate professors with at least three years in rank or professors, members of a sponsoring society, and have completed leadership training or an MBA program; ASA membership is optional. Applications require a preliminary itinerary with confirmed ASA host leaders and two reference letters, and must be submitted through one sponsoring society by September 15, 2026.
