About this program
The A.P. Giannini Foundation offers up to seven competitive 2027 Postdoctoral Research Fellowships and Leadership Awards supporting innovative basic or applied biomedical research aimed at preventing, treating, or curing human diseases. Awards provide $70,000 annually for up to three years, along with required communications and leadership training.
Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents, hold or complete an MD, MD/PhD, PhD, or equivalent degree, and have 3–36 months of postdoctoral experience as of December 31, 2026. Research must be conducted at an accredited California medical school under a full-time faculty mentor; applicants with faculty or tenure-track appointments are ineligible, and applications are due online by November 5, 2026.
