2027 YPO Scenes Competition

About this program

The National Opera Association’s YPO Scenes Competition recognizes artistic excellence in college and university opera programs and promotes opera created for pre-college audiences. Winners will be selected through video adjudication, with the winning submission featured at the 2027 National Conference in Minneapolis; applications are due October 15, 2026, with a $25 entry fee. Eligible applicants must represent a college or university, and either the institution or submitting faculty member must be an NOA member; scenes must have been performed between October 15, 2025, and October 15, 2026, derive from a fully produced work, and be no longer than eight minutes. Submissions must primarily feature students from the same institution and include an anonymous, publicly accessible video link.
