AAAAI/TMS Research Award in Mast Cell Disorders (2027)

About this program

The American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology (AAAAI), in partnership with The Mast Cell Disease Society (TMS), is offering a one‑year research award to advance understanding of mast cell disorders including mastocytosis and mast cell activation syndrome, providing $60,000 for salary and laboratory expenses for the award term July 1, 2027–June 30, 2028 (no institutional indirect costs). Applications are due October 30, 2026 (3:00 pm CT) and proposals will be evaluated for scientific merit, relevance to mast cell disorders, institutional affiliation/support, and a demonstrated career plan toward future research funding. Applicants must hold an MD, DO, PhD, MD/PhD, or DO/PhD at the time of application, be AAAAI members and U.S. citizens or permanent residents, and at the time of award have a primary faculty or equivalent appointment in an allergy/immunology division of a U.S. academic institution, be independent investigators with institutional commitment and adequate space/resources, and have completed training; current NIH K08 recipients are eligible but current NIH R01 recipients or PIs/Co‑PIs on NIH program project grants are not.
