AAAS Pathways to Policy Fellowship

About this program

The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) offers the Pathways to Policy Fellowship, a yearlong placement enabling experts to apply scientific and technical expertise to policy development in nonprofits, corporations, think tanks, and other organizations outside the federal government. Fellows receive professional development, a salary stipend of at least $85,000 based on locality, health insurance, paid time off, and relocation support. Applicants must be U.S. citizens with a completed doctoral degree in a scientific discipline or a master’s degree in engineering plus three years of related professional experience; candidates at any career stage are eligible, except current AAAS employees. Applications open August 1, 2026, and are due November 1, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. ET.
