AACAP Congressional Fellowship

About this program

The American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP) offers a 10-month Congressional Fellowship for one child and adolescent psychiatrist to work in a U.S. House or Senate office and develop expertise in federal legislative and mental health policy. The fellowship provides $100,000 in support, plus up to $3,500 for relocation and/or AACAP Annual Meeting travel, and runs August 1, 2027–May 31, 2028. Applicants must be AACAP members, be U.S. citizens or permanent residents, have completed or be completing an eligible child and adolescent psychiatry training program by August 1, 2027, and demonstrate a strong interest in public policy and advocacy. Applications, including a CV, recommendation letter, and 1,000-word personal statement, are due November 13, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time.
