AAD Young Investigator Awards

About this program

The American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) offers annual Young Investigator Awards recognizing promising dermatology researchers in the United States and Canada across basic/translational, clinical, and Dermatology Health Disparities research; one recipient per track receives $6,000 and an engraved plaque. Applicants must hold an MD, DO, or MD/PhD and have completed or be participating in an accredited U.S. or Canadian dermatology residency. Research must be completed, initiated after medical school or PhD thesis work, submitted for publication or published, and completed by age 40 and within eight years of the terminal degree, with limited extensions available. Applications are due September 20, 2026, and are evaluated on research originality, rigor, impact, publications, and potential for independent funding.
