AAG E. Willard and Ruby S. Miller Award

About this program

The American Association of Geographers administers the annual E. Willard and Ruby S. Miller Award, funded by the estate of Ruby S. Miller, to recognize AAG members who have made outstanding contributions to geography through special competence in teaching or research; each award includes $1,000 and a commemorative plaque, and multiple awards may be given. Nominations, including self-nominations, are accepted and require the nominee’s resume/CV and a nomination letter describing the candidate’s special competence and summarizing contributions to the discipline. Eligible applicants are AAG members from any field of geography and must comply with the AAG Professional Conduct Policy (nominations may be rescinded and awards revoked for violations). The 2027 award cycle reopens in 2026 with a submission deadline of September 15, 2026 (by midnight EST).
