AAG E. Willard and Ruby S. Miller Award

About this program

The Association of American Geographers (AAG), supported by the estate of Ruby S. Miller, offers the annual E. Willard and Ruby S. Miller Award to recognize outstanding contributions to geography through exceptional teaching or research, including mentoring, informal education, and basic or applied research. Each award includes $1,000 and a commemorative plaque, and multiple awards may be given; nominations for 2027 are due September 15, 2026, by midnight Eastern Time. AAG members from all geographic fields are eligible, and self-nominations are permitted, provided nominees comply with the AAG Professional Conduct Policy. Applications must include the nominee’s CV or resume and a nomination letter describing their special competence and contributions to geography.
