AAG Globe Book Award for Public Understanding of Geography

About this program

The American Association of Geographers (AAG) offers the annual Globe Book Award for Public Understanding of Geography, recognizing a book that most powerfully communicates geography’s nature and importance to nonacademic audiences; the author(s) receive $1,000, and an honorable mention may also be awarded. Eligible books must be written or co-authored by a geographer, published for the first time in English between October 2025 and September 2026, and submitted for only one AAG book award. Nominations must comply with AAG’s Professional Conduct Policy and include a maximum two-page statement with author and nominator contact information, while four copies of the book must arrive at AAG headquarters by October 15, 2026.
