AAG Marble-Boyle Undergraduate Achievement Award

About this program

The American Association of Geographers (AAG) funds the Marble-Boyle Undergraduate Achievement Award to honor undergraduates who bridge geographic science and computer science, awarding up to three recipients annually a $1,500 cash prize and a $1,000 travel grant for attendance at the AAG Annual Meeting. Awards are supported by the Marble Fund with additional support acknowledged from Jack Dangermond and are formally presented at the AAG Annual Meeting. Eligible applicants are full-time undergraduates at accredited U.S. or Canadian institutions no more than 12 months from graduation who intend to pursue careers or further education combining geographic science and computer science. Applications (deadline 15 Oct 2026 for the 2027 awards) must include an 800-word essay, a signed faculty letter of recommendation on institutional letterhead, official or unofficial transcripts with relevant courses highlighted and one- to two-sentence course descriptions, and compliance with the AAG Professional Conduct Policy.
