AAG Marble Fund Award for Innovative Master’s Research in Quantitative Geography

About this program

The American Association of Geographers awards the Marble Fund Award to recognize innovative quantitative Master’s research, granting two annual prizes of $2,000 plus a $1,000 travel stipend for recipients who attend the AAG annual meeting. The award promotes quantitative scientific investigations in geography but is open to Master’s students from other disciplines and to candidates outside the United States. Applicants must be within nine months of graduation at the time of application or have graduated within the nine months prior to the October 15, 2026 deadline, and the research must be a thesis or equivalent that demonstrates innovation in quantitative methodology or question with potential for publication; applied projects and portfolios are ineligible. A complete application includes an essay (≤1,000 words) describing the research and prospective journal outlet, the applicant’s CV, and a letter from the faculty advisor, department chair, or program director confirming intended or actual graduation date.
