AAG Meredith F. Burrill Award

About this program

The Association of American Geographers (AAG) offers the Meredith F. Burrill Award to honor individuals or teams whose exceptional geographic research connects fundamental scholarship with practical applications or policy implications. The award includes a certificate and cash honorarium presented at the AAG Annual Meeting, with emphasis on interdisciplinary cultural research, place-name standardization, and collaboration on geographic issues. Nominees must submit a curriculum vitae and a nomination statement of no more than two pages; up to three supporting letters may be included. Nominees must comply with the AAG Professional Conduct Policy, and submissions are due September 15, 2026, by midnight Eastern Time.
