About this program

The American Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies (ASECS) offers the $2,500 A.C. Elias, Jr. Ireland/North America Research Travel Fellowship to support travel for documentary research on Ireland between the Treaty of Limerick (1691) and the Act of Union (1800). Projects may address any aspect of eighteenth-century Ireland but must center on primary sources, including manuscripts, printed materials, buildings, artworks, or other artifacts. Applicants must be ASECS members permanently residing in the United States or Canada, or members of The Eighteenth-Century Ireland Society residing in Ireland or Northern Ireland; recipients may not accept another ASECS grant or fellowship in the same year. Applications, including a cover letter, CV, project description, bibliography, budget, and two recommendations, are due November 15, 2026.
