Academy of Education Research Grants

About this program

The APTA Academy of Education Research Committee is offering annual research grants to support studies that advance education in physical therapy across the learner continuum (e.g., DPT, PTA, entry‑level, post‑professional) and projects related to patient/client education. Two grant categories are available: Small Research Grants (up to $5,000) for early‑career or emerging education researchers and pilot projects, and Large Research Grants (up to $25,000) for experienced investigators or teams pursuing larger studies. Applicants must be current Academy of Education members and propose work that addresses an important education question, is situated within a larger research agenda, and can be completed within the 18‑month grant period; large‑grant proposals must demonstrate team expertise and capacity to deliver all proposed outcomes. The current call opens Aug 3 and closes Sept 30, 2026 (deadline moves to Sept 1 beginning 2027); review the Research Grant Guidelines before applying.
