Accelerating the Development of Combined CGM–Pump Devices

Breakthrough T1D is soliciting 2-page LOIs (RMS360) for R&D projects to accelerate development and early clinical evaluation of integrated continuous glucose monitor–insulin pump devices, addressing device integration, sensor–insulin interactions, lifespan alignment, manufacturability, and usability; awards may total up to $900,000 USD for up to three years. Proposals must define realistic milestones, demonstrate a plausible path to clinical translation and commercialization, address manufacturing/sterilization/material compatibility, and prioritize collaborative sensor–delivery integration and early-stage clinical feasibility where appropriate. Eligible applicants include domestic and foreign non-profit and public institutions (universities, hospitals, labs, state/local units, eligible federal agencies) with a PI holding an M.D., D.O., D.M.D., D.V.M., Ph.D., or equivalent and a faculty or comparable appointment; for-profit entities may apply under the Industry Discovery & Development Partnership (IDDP) mechanism subject to additional requirements and matching funds. A 2-page LOI is required by September 2, 2026 to be invited for full proposal submission, and funded projects must comply with NIH/HHS human-subjects and animal-research policies.
