ACG Edgar Achkar Visiting Professorships

About this program

The American College of Gastroenterology (ACG) Institute supports Edgar Achkar Visiting Professorships to bring nationally recognized gastroenterology speakers to North American GI training programs for lectures, case discussions, mentoring, and faculty/trainee engagement. ACG covers the visiting professor’s honorarium and travel expenses; applications are due August 19, 2026, for visits scheduled during 2026 or the academic year. Eligible applicants are North American GI training programs that demonstrate an unmet educational need, identify a suitable speaker—preferably suggesting at least three current ACG members—and commit to promoting the visit and engaging local trainees, faculty, and community gastroenterologists. Applications must include the online form and a one-page letter of interest outlining the program’s objectives and anticipated impact.
