About this program
The Maryland State Arts Council (MSAC) offers Arts & Entertainment (A&E) District designation to provide Maryland communities with tax incentives and other tools that promote arts-related activity, investment, and economic development in defined geographic areas. Eligible applicants are Maryland county or municipal governments proposing districts within Priority Funding Areas that have significant arts, entertainment, or arts-business activity and incorporate the arts into their economic development strategies. Applicants must secure agreement from all affected local governments and submit an Intent to Apply form 90 days before the selected deadline. Intent deadlines are January 1 or September 2, with full applications due April 1 or October 1.
