About this program

The American Gastroenterological Association Research Foundation offers one $40,000, one-year award to support early-career investigators conducting research on the pathogenesis, prevention, diagnosis, or treatment of digestive cancer. Applicants must hold an NIH K-series or other career development award of at least four years’ duration, with at least one year remaining as of April 1, 2026, and must propose research that extends beyond—not duplicates—the existing award. Eligible candidates must hold an MD, PhD, or equivalent degree, a full-time faculty position at a North American institution, AGA membership, and early-career status; R01-equivalent award holders are ineligible. Applications are due September 15, 2026, for funding beginning April 1, 2027.
