About this program
The Minnesota Department of Agriculture’s Rural Finance Authority administers the Aggie Bond Beginning Farmer Loan Program, which provides qualified beginning farmers with reduced-interest financing for Minnesota agricultural land, breeding livestock, machinery, trucks, and farm improvements. Loans may total up to $616,000, with limits for used and new depreciable property, and are financed through participating lenders or eligible private financiers. Applicants must be Minnesota residents intending to become full-time farmers, have a net worth below $1,069,000 in 2026, limited prior farmland ownership, sufficient experience and repayment ability, and plan to operate the Minnesota-based farm themselves. Participants must also agree to approved farm business management education for three years when available nearby and consult with a local conservation office.
