AHCJ International Health Study Fellowships

About this program

The Association of Health Care Journalists, with support from The Commonwealth Fund, offers International Health Study Fellowships for experienced journalists to compare a facet of the U.S. health care system with that of the U.K. or France in 2027. Over six months, fellows receive training, mentoring, travel, lodging and stipends for reporting trips and seminars, and are expected to publish or air their work within 90 days of travel. Applicants must be U.S.-based working journalists with at least 10 years of professional experience who qualify for AHCJ membership and submit a compelling project proposal, recent health-policy work sample and employer or assigning-editor support for publication. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis through Sept. 25, 2026, at 5 p.m. CST.
