AIA Public Engagement Award

About this program

The Archaeological Institute of America’s Outreach and Education Committee invites nominations for its inaugural Public Engagement Award, recognizing AIA members’ outreach and partnerships that serve diverse non-specialist audiences, including K–12 students, community groups, museum visitors, and library patrons. Eligible current professional, K–12 educator, and student AIA members may self-nominate for engagement conducted from September 2025 through August 2026. Applicants must have contributed at least 12 hours and/or participated in three separate engagements that were not required components of their regular professional duties. Nominations are due October 1, 2026, with awardees recognized at the January 2027 Annual Meeting.
