Airport Improvement Program Matching Grant

About this program

The California Department of Transportation offers Airport Improvement Program Matching Grants to public agencies sponsoring eligible public-use general aviation airports. Reimbursable funding supports airport development or planning activities and covers up to 5% of a Federal Aviation Administration Airport Improvement Program grant, with a maximum of $200,000 per project. Projects must be listed in the State Capital Improvement Plan, receive required local and environmental approvals, and obtain a state notice to proceed before work begins. Applicants must submit the required state forms, executed FAA grant agreement, Airport Layout Plan or project drawings, and other supporting documentation; applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.
