About this program
The Texas State Historical Association offers the annual Al Lowman Memorial Prize, including a $1,000 award and certificate, for the best book on Texas county or local history published during the calendar year. Publishers must submit an entry form and four copies of each eligible book published and copyrighted in 2025 or 2026 by November 15, 2026; books published after October 1 may be submitted through December 1 if copyrighted that year. Each submission must include an individual nomination form, and the winning author must attend the TSHA Annual Meeting to receive the award.
