About this program

Alberta Innovates offers a Voucher Program providing $10,000–$100,000 vouchers to Alberta-based for‑profit SMEs to offset costs of products or services for technology development and building working prototypes; vouchers may cover up to three service providers and the program has continuous intake with approvals typically in 6–8 weeks. Projects must focus on R&D, testing and refinement at TRL 3–6, produce a pre‑commercial technology, include identifiable go/no‑go milestones, and be completed within two years. Applicants must be Alberta‑incorporated SMEs with a physical presence in Alberta, fewer than 500 employees and under $50M annual revenue, be in good standing with Alberta Innovates, provide at least 25% of total project costs in cash, and have no conflict of interest with service providers.
