About this program

The Foundation of the ASNR offers the Aldon Mark Berger Mental Health Imaging Research Grant, providing up to $250,000 over two years for innovative neuroimaging research on the neural mechanisms, treatment, and outcomes of psychiatric and mental health disorders. Projects must present a clearly testable hypothesis and well-developed aims, using neuroimaging with complementary methodologies; funding supports direct research costs only, with no indirect costs. Applicants must be North American ASNR members in good standing with an MD, PhD, DO, or equivalent degree and an active or imminent academic appointment in a Radiology department; physician applicants must meet specified radiology and neuroradiology training requirements. Applications are due October 30, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. CT, and require institutional endorsement, a detailed research proposal, budget, and supporting documentation.
