American Doctoral Fellowship

About this program

The American Association of University Women (AAUW) offers a $25,000 American Doctoral Fellowship to support one year of doctoral study and related living, tuition, and research expenses, with applicants in STEM and gender-related research especially encouraged. The fellowship is open to women pursuing a first Ph.D., D.Sc., Ed.D., S.J.D./J.S.D., D.Eng., Dr.P.H., or D.B.A. who will begin or continue their program by September 30, 2027, and are enrolled full-time or completing dissertation writing full-time at an eligible institution. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, nationals, or permanent residents, demonstrate academic and scholarly excellence, research potential, financial need, and commitment to women and girls, and submit required academic records and two recommendations by September 30, 2026.
