Andlinger Center Grants to Promote Research Collaborations

Princeton’s Andlinger Center for Energy and the Environment offers grants up to $30,000 (no overhead) to support team‑building and proposal‑preparation activities—such as working groups, focused workshops, planning meetings, and hiring outside consultants—to catalyze new interdisciplinary research directions and development of large‑scale proposals (awards up to one year). Funding is restricted to planning and proposal‑preparation expenses (travel, meeting/workshop costs, consulting) and may not be used for research projects, faculty summer salary, benefits, or research supplies. Eligible applicants are Princeton researchers who may serve as PIs on R&D grants (outside collaborators may participate but may not serve as PI or co‑PI); a required preproposal consultation with the Assistant Director for Research (Charlie Sharpless) must occur before submitting. Proposals should be submitted as a single PDF to csharpless@princeton.edu, are reviewed twice yearly (submit by March 1 or October 1 for consideration), should be no more than two pages excluding budget rationale and NSF‑style biosketches, and must include title, background, project description, budget rationale, biosketches, and letters of support if external partners are key; grantees must provide a one‑page summary of activities at project end.
