About this program
Connecticut Innovations administers the Angel Investor Tax Credit Program to certify Qualified Connecticut Businesses (QCBs) and enable them to attract angel capital; angel investors in certified QCBs receive state tax credits according to a published schedule (examples: $25,000→$6,250; $100,000→$25,000; eligible investments reported up to $2,000,000 per company). Certified companies are published on the Qualified Connecticut Business List with contact and investment details, and applicants submit the Qualified Connecticut Business Application via the online portal for review. Connecticut Innovations reviews applications for completeness and program criteria and will notify applicants of approval or denial within 45 business days, with denials explained. Eligible QCBs must have gross revenues under $1,000,000 in the most recent year, fewer than 25 employees (including active owners), have operated in Connecticut for less than seven consecutive years, have at least 50% Connecticut-resident employees, and have received less than $2,000,000 in prior eligible angel investments; priority is given to emerging technology sectors (bioscience, advanced materials, photonics, information technology, clean technology).
