ANMS Discovery Grants Program

About this program

The American Neurogastroenterology and Motility Society (ANMS) Discovery Grants Program provides pilot funding to support basic, translational, or innovative clinical research in neurogastroenterology and GI motility, awarding up to two grants of up to $30,000 each (applications due Oct 9, 2026; award period begins Mar 1, 2027; notifications by mid-Jan 2027). Applicants must be ANMS members at a U.S. or Canadian academic institution and be clinical fellowship trainees, postdoctoral research fellows, or faculty within 10 years of completing training who do not hold prior or current independent R‑level or equivalent K/R funding. Both applicant and mentor must be ANMS members (dues covering the award period must be paid before disbursement and may be deducted from the award); trainees must commit ≥10% effort and provide a division/department letter confirming protected time and a mentor letter, while faculty must provide departmental verification of protected time. Recipients are required to attend the next ANMS Clinical and Scientific Meeting and submit an abstract describing ANMS‑funded work by the end of the award period.
