ANMS Discovery Grants

About this program

The American Neurogastroenterological and Motility Society (ANMS) will award up to two Discovery Grants of $30,000 each in 2027 to support preliminary research in neurogastroenterology and gastrointestinal motility, including basic, translational, and clinical studies. Funds may support research expenses, equipment, supplies, and support personnel salaries, but not investigator salary or indirect costs, and may be used over two years.

Eligible applicants are clinical fellows, postdoctoral research fellows, or faculty within 10 years of completing training who hold primary academic appointments, demonstrate potential for an independent research career, and have no current or prior independent K-, R-, or equivalent grant funding as principal investigator. Applicants must be ANMS members, commit at least 10% protected research time, and provide institutional support; trainee applicants also require a research mentor and mentor letter. Applications are due October 9, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. EST.
