About this program

The A.P. Giannini Foundation offers fellowships to support postdoctoral biomedical research and the development of independent scientific careers, with emphasis on research that may advance prevention or treatment of human disease. Applicants must submit an online application by November 5, 2026, at 3 p.m. PST, including a research proposal, biosketches, personal and nontechnical statements, a mentor’s support letter, and three reference letters. References must be qualified to assess the applicant’s research potential; Ph.D. candidates must include their doctoral thesis advisor, and M.D. candidates should include their residency chief or fellowship director, while the prospective mentor may not serve as a reference.
