About this program

The Arizona Historical Society offers short-term research fellowships providing $500–$2,000 to support one- to three-week residencies in Arizona, primarily for research in AHS archives; funds defray travel and living expenses. Eligible applicants include academics, graduate students, doctoral and postdoctoral researchers, and independent scholars, with international applicants required to have a U.S. Social Security or tax identification number. Projects should have strong potential for publication in the Journal of Arizona History or another scholarly journal, and awardees must submit a 2–3-page report and engage with AHS’s public audience. Applications for the 2027 cycle open April 1, 2026, and are due November 1, 2026.
