ARRS Research Scholarship

About this program

The American Roentgen Ray Society (ARRS), through The Roentgen Fund, offers the two‑year ARRS Research Scholarship providing $180,000 to support early‑career faculty conducting radiologic‑science research with potential to change the practice of radiology. Scholars must commit a minimum 20% effort and secure a department chair nomination letter that commits an additional 20% protected time and identifies a faculty mentor. Eligibility requires ARRS membership, an MD/DO (or equivalent), completion of residency and fellowship, a full‑time faculty appointment in radiology/nuclear medicine or an associated imaging department in the United States or Canada, being within five years of first faculty appointment, and eligibility for American Board of Radiology certification; applicants may not have previously accepted specified major scholar grants (e.g., RSNA Research Scholar, AUR GERRAF). One nomination is allowed per department, up to two awards may be made annually, and the application deadline for the 2027 scholarship is October 6, 2026.
