Art Writing and Publishing Awards (AWAPAs)

About this program

The Art Association of Australia and New Zealand (AAANZ) is inviting entries to the Art Writing and Publishing Awards (AWAPAs), annual prizes that award monetary prizes across categories—books, exhibition catalogues (large/medium/small), anthologies, scholarly articles, artist‑led publications and Indigenous/Māori/Pasifika writing—to recognise excellence in arts writing, research, design and production across Australasia. Entrants may be authors, editors or publishers and the awards are open to Australian and New Zealand writers and publishers (including those published by international houses). Applicants must be AAANZ members or staff of museums/galleries with AAANZ institutional membership, and publications must meet the specified publication-year requirements (generally 2025; some artist‑led categories allow earlier windows). Complete the online entry form and post two copies of each publication for judging by the entry deadline, Friday 28 August 2026; judges’ decisions are final and winners are announced at the AAANZ 2026 conference.
