About this program

Maine Humanities Council offers Arts & Humanities Grants of up to $1,000 for innovative, Maine-based community projects integrating substantial arts and humanities components. Proposals should demonstrate strong project design, community partnerships, public outreach, and participation by artists or subject-matter experts, with applications accepted October 6–November 3, 2026. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) nonprofits, government entities, churches, and educational institutions; other organizations must apply through a fiscal sponsor. Organizations that receive a Maine Humanities project grant may not apply for another project grant during the same or following calendar year, and projects must support nonpartisan, inclusive discussion.
