ASH Global Research Award

About this program

The American Society of Hematology (ASH) offers the ASH Global Research Award (AGRA) to support emerging international hematology leaders, build capacity, and foster collaborative basic, translational, clinical, and outcomes research; awards fund projects up to three years (up to $100,000 for ≤1 year and up to $150,000 for >1 year, with amounts adjusted for project needs and regional costs). Applicants must be based outside the United States and Canada, hold an MD, PhD, MD‑PhD or equivalent, be ASH members in good standing, and typically be between completion of training and establishment of independent careers. A mandatory letter of intent (LOI) must be submitted via ASH’s online awards system including project description, timeline, requested funding, mentorship plan, applicant career level, and CV; LOIs are screened to invite full proposals (LOI available March 1, 2026; LOI deadline August 31, 2026; invited applications due April 15, 2026). All applicants must designate both a local and a global mentor (the global mentor must be outside the applicant’s country/region) with at least one mentor an ASH Active or International member; applicants from low‑ and middle‑income countries may also be considered for the Explorer Pathway career‑development award of $20,000.
