ASLA-Fulbright Research Grants for Senior Scholars

Fulbright Finland Foundation, in co‑financing with the applicant’s home university, funds ASLA‑Fulbright Research Grants for Senior Scholars to support experienced Finnish researchers (PhD earned at least four years before the deadline) for 3–12 month research visits at U.S. universities with J‑1 visa sponsorship and Fulbright enrichment and alumni support. Grants typically cover up to six months and provide up to USD 5,000 per month (maximum USD 30,000); stays beyond six months require documented additional funding and special cost‑of‑living/dependent adjustments are available. Eligible applicants are Finnish citizens (no Finnish‑American dual citizens or U.S. permanent residents), must hold a position at a participating Finnish university and obtain home‑institution approval; proposals involving clinical patient contact are ineligible and a two‑year home‑residency requirement applies after the grant. Apply via the IIE online form with a host invitation letter, project statement, CV, passport copy, bibliography, two recommendations, preliminary budget and required cost‑share commitment; deadline October 1, 2026 (Finnish time 23:59).
