About this program

The TREE Fund’s Asplundh–Hyland R. Johns Endowed Research Fund Grant Program supports three- to five-year research and technology-transfer projects that improve the everyday work of arborists, with awards of up to $25,000. Proposals may come from diverse academic and technical disciplines and may use qualitative or quantitative methods. Grants are not available to individuals or for municipal tree surveys, tree planting, traditional forestry or timber production, natural-area conservation, or product testing primarily benefiting a manufacturer. Letters of intent are due September 1, 2026, with full applications due October 15, 2026.
